HONOURING EXCELLENCE

CCCA is pleased to announce the winners of the
THE 2008 ROBERT V.A. JONES AWARD.

Ms. Chisholm obtained her B.A. from Mount Allison University (1984), her LL.B. from the University of Alberta (1988) and her M.B.A. from Queen’s University (2004). She was called to the Alberta Bar in 1989. Kate Chisholm is part of EPCOR’s senior executive team and serves as EPCOR’s Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. In this capacity, she directs all legal affairs for EPCOR, EPCOR Power and their subsidiaries. She leads an expert environmental, regulatory and legal team, and also has responsibility for corporate compliance and ethics. Prior to joining EPCOR in 2004, Kate held positions as Vice President Commercial & Legal at the electrical transmission administrator of Alberta, Vice-President Law & Corporate Secretary at a successful ‘dot-com’ start up venture and had held various other senior legal and regulatory positions in private practice.


Mr. Shorten obtained his B.A. (1967) and his LL.B. (1972) from the University of Saskatchewan. He was called to the British Columbia Bar in 1973. Alex Shorten has 23 years of experience working in senior legal and management positions for forest products and construction companies combined with 11 years in private practice. He is currently associate counsel with Bull, Houser & Tupper LLP. From 1993 to 2006, as Vice President & General Counsel of Weyerhaeuser Canada, Alex worked on many of the largest acquisitions and divestitures in the forest products industry in Canada. During this time, Weyerhaeuser Canada expanded its operations significantly through major acquisitions of other Canadian forest products companies to become the largest forest products company in Canada. Alex served as a member of the Board of Directors of CCCA from 1999 to 2003.
