Newfoundland and Labrador
In line with our National mission statement, our Newfoundland and Labrador CCCA chapter continues to provide a forum and voice for in-house counsel; advancing the practice of law, professional skills and careers of in-house counsel, uniquely suited to members’ needs in Atlantic Canada.
While our Chapter has experienced growth over the past several years, we have experienced periods of dormancy. This has prompted informal information-sharing among members to compensate for the lack of formal Chapter structure. I believe, now is the time, though, to begin revitalization and start afresh. The focus in 2010 and beyond will be to re-engage our local corporate counsel members and regenerate exposure within our CBA Chapter.
We plan to increase our communication to current and potential members and provide them with a vital opportunity to voice their suggestions, concerns and opinions. It is our hope that this initiative will lead to increased excitement, engagement and a return to a formal meeting structure, executive and planned events.
In many respects, starting from this new baseline will help energize membership, akin to beginning a new branch. As president, I look forward to reaching out to you, our membership base, to begin to steer a new course and direction for CCCA in Newfoundland and Labrador.
