In Nova Scotia, in-house counsel are scattered throughout the entire province, with most situated within the greater Halifax region. Because of this the Chapter sought co-ordinate its programming initiatives with the Nova Scotia CBA Corporate Counsel Section in 2004 and 2005.
In order to accommodate in-house counsel who practice outside of the Halifax region, we also explored the feasibility of holding sessions at several different locations throughout the province, as well as providing a teleconference option for those unable to travel to meetings.
During the year, representatives of some CCCA Suppliers generously offered to speak at our Chapter sessions and the Chapter approached several Halifax-based law firms that have in the past have offered to host and/or provide speakers for events that are targeted at in-house counsel. The support of these excellent organizations is most appreciated.
The Chapter is always seeking to recruit new members, so if you are lawyer practising in-house in Nova Scotia and you would like to become involved with the CCCA’s Nova Scotia Chapter, please contact me at the address below.
